Accessing Financial Aid

First Step - FAFSA

Complete the FAFSA: Students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year in order to receive aid. To apply, visit www.fafsa.gov. FAFSA on the Web opens November 1st each year for the following school year.

Second Step - FAIR

Turn in the FAIR right away: After receiving your FAFSA, BMCC will send you an email with instructions. Log into your Student WolfWeb account to access the Financial Aid Information Request (FAIR) and other documents you may need. The FAIR tells BMCC you want to start the financial aid process. CHECK YOUR BMCC EMAIL OFTEN!

Third Step - Other Documents

BMCC might need to verify information on your FAFSA and may request additional documents in order to complete your file for awarding. The sooner you get everything turned in, the sooner you get awarded. BE AWARE OF DATES AND DEADLINES!

DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS

BMCC has partnered with BankMobile to offer students a direct deposit option. When it comes to deciding how to get your money, you deserve choices. More BankMobile information.

Your choices include:

DEPOSIT TO AN EXISTING ACCOUNT – Money is transferred to an existing account the same business day BankMobile receives funds from BMCC. Typically, it takes 1 – 2 business days for the receiving bank to credit the money to your account.

DEPOSIT TO A BANKMOBILE VIBE CHECKING ACCOUNT – If you open a BankMobile Vibe checking account (upon identity verification), money is deposited the same business day BankMobile receives funds from BMCC.

A paper check option is also available

To Get Started:

After you enroll for classes, bankMobile will send you the Refund Selection Kit. It will arrive in a bright green envelope and contain your Personal Code. In addition to the refund Selection Kit, you will also receive an email from BankMobile containing your Personal Code. Once you have your code, follow these easy steps:

  1. Visit refundselection.com
  2. Enter your unique Personal Code from the green envelope or email
  3. Select how you'd like to receive your money

Contact the financial aid office if you have not received the envelope.

TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID

Pell Grant

Stafford Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized)

SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants) - BMCC awards SEOG funds based on FAFSA's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and the date the student completed the financial aid application process. Qualifying students are awarded $150 per term (excluding summer) for the academic year until funds are exhausted. Students must: 1) enroll fall term, 2) have a zero EFC, and 3) have an enrollment status of at least 6 credits during each of the awarding terms.
